Web hosting is bigger than just the server software. It includes the online storage, server setup, control panel, database access, email options, security tools, and technical environment needed to keep a site available. A hosting company usually manages these parts for the customer.
A simple example is a restaurant. Website hosting is like the building, kitchen, electricity, and storage area. The web server is like the waiter who takes a customer’s request and brings the correct order. The building gives the place, while the waiter handles delivery.
A website can have hosting without visitors seeing anything useful if no pages are uploaded. A server can also exist without being sold as a hosting package. The main point is that the server handles communication, while hosting provides the complete online space and setup for the website.
