Web publishing is about creating, editing, uploading, and making content visible. This can include posting a blog article, adding a new service page, uploading product photos, changing website text, or sending a finished page live. Publishing focuses on what users will read, see, or interact with.
A useful example is a theater. Hosting is the building, stage, lights, and seats. Publishing is the performance placed on the stage. The building can exist without a show, but the audience needs both the place and the performance to have a complete experience.
A person can buy a hosting plan and still have no published website if no content has been uploaded. In the same way, content cannot reach public visitors properly unless it is placed on hosting, a website builder, a CMS, or another online platform. Hosting supplies the online environment; publishing supplies the actual material shown to people.
